Macau Peninsula & Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, Macau
Parameters:
  • H₂S, NH₃, CH₄S (Methyl mercaptan), Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Temperature, Humidity, Barometric Pressure

  • In accordance with Macau SAR Administrative Regulation No. 37/2018, strict emission standards for air pollutants from wastewater treatment facilities have been enacted to minimize environmental impact and safeguard public health. To actively comply with these statutory frameworks, the Macau Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) required a highly sensitive, real-time boundary monitoring grid. The objective was to continuously track trace-level malodorous compounds around the prominent urban infrastructure hotbeds of the Macau Peninsula Sewage Treatment Plant and the high-traffic Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal.

    Sapiens Solution & Impact
Sapiens engineered and deployed a specialized perimeter protection matrix, installing a total of 4 advanced MAS Odour Plus units strategically split across the boundary perimeters of both facilities.
    • Trace-Level Boundary Tracking: The units continuously monitor trace-level concentrations (at the ppb level) of targeted odour markers—including Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S), Ammonia (NH₃), and Methyl Mercaptan (CH₄S)—to support instant source tracking.

    • Strategic Operational Guidance Tool: While statutory enforcement under local regulations relies on standard laboratory sampling methods, our continuous sensor network serves as a critical diagnostic and early-warning asset. It provides DSPA and plant operators with the real-time trend intelligence needed to optimize daily odor control and proactive site management.

    • Traceable On-Site Maintenance: To guarantee high data reliability across the project, our operations team conducts regular on-site validation utilizing portable field-calibration equipment and traceable standard gases, ensuring the network maintains stable, long-term operational precision.
